Seminoles 55, Hurricanes 53
FSU owns Miami!
Paging Doctor Heimlich, Paging Doctor Heimlich - the Hurricanes choked again!
No matter that Florida State did not even make a basket from the floor until ten minutes into the game. Yes, 10 minutes with nothing but free throws because the Seminoles couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a snow shovel to save their lives. Thoroughly outplayed most of the game and again cold on offense, they still managed to come back in the second half and snake Miami for a 55-53 win in Coral Gables. Miami, truthfully, should have won this game convincingly, but let FSU hang around in the first half despite one of the worst shooting halves in recent memory. Combined with the 45-17 ass kicking in football this past season, FSU is now 2-0 in Miami against the Hurricanes in the two biggest sports. Yet again, FSU seems to be right at home in the Hurricanes home stadium/arena or whatever venue we can substitute. This victory could be a major lynchpin in Florida State's hopes to advance to the Big Dance. Lose and you are 3-2 in conference with an 0-2 road record. Lose and you have nothing to build on after the wins over Duke and NC State. Instead, they battled all game and continued to fight hard and play good defense. They hung around and in the second half, did what they have done to Miami for many times over the past couple of years. Ripped their hearts out and stomped on them right on the floor of BankUnited. Oh, and this was Miami's first home loss this season. Even better, FSU dealt them their last home loss last year. If you're a Seminole fan, here are the statistics that should shut up all those poor Miami fans:
In all honesty, Florida State should start playing all the football and basketball games against the Hurricanes down in Miami's own backyard. The Seminoles seem to feel right at home down there, that's for sure. In basketball, FSU lost in 2005 after blowing a 4 point lead with 30 seconds left. In 2009, FSU was up at the half, but couldn't stop red hot Jack McClinton. If that sorry ass 2005 could have held the lead, we'd be talking about 7 out of 8 in Coral Gables. Damn, now that's impressive. One thing is for sure, in basketball, Florida State flat owns Miami's ass. Poor Frank Haith must have nightmares about playing the Seminoles. He's snake bitten against FSU and the 4-9 record against the Noles could get worse when the teams meet again in Tallahassee next month.
