Really, Dan Gilbert and Cleveland?

OK, I admit, LeBron did break your heart in a very mean-spirited way.  On national television, he gave the city of Cleveland and the Cavaliers organization the very, big, middle finger.  I thought he should have done so in private.  But burning his jersey on national television and basically treating the guy like he's an actual criminal is a bit much.  Well, I guess he stole all of your thunder, so yeah, criminal in sort of a way.  But I digress.  He didn't actually kill anyone or steal anything of value.  He's a basketball player, well, a very good one.   But the reality is that Cleveland is not going to collapse without LeBron.  Your team won't be as good, but your city is not going to suffer.

I agree with his overall actions of leaving towards Miami.  Granted, I hate Miami sports fans and wish he could have gone to any team other than the Heat.  Miami fans are by far, the worst bunch of bandwagon sorry-assed fans you can find anywhere.  We won't even touch how they can't even fill up their new glorified college football stadium unless Florida State fans show up en masse to pack the place.  Marlins games, well, you could fire a shotgun through the stadium and not hit anybody on gamedays.  Dolphins sell out when they play the Jets or Bills, seeing as all the loud and foul-mouthed New Yorkers show up to fill the stadium with more of their own fans.  I guess you can call it another home game every year for the Jets and Bills.

But, in reality, bandwagon fans don't mean a damn thing to the owners and players.  Championships are what dreams are made of in any sport.  Going to Miami gives LeBron pretty much a guaranteed shot that he will at least win one championship, if not more.  He needed help.  He wasn't going to win it by himself.  Cleveland had every opportunity for seven years, yet failed to get it done.  LeBron took your franchise from absolute crap and made it into a powerhouse.  He made Dan Gilbert more money than he can count.  He didn't owe you jack crap.  He already paid for it with his hard work and dedication.

I admit, I'm a LeBron James fan.  I like the way he plays and the way he carries himself.  Helps big time that he is a life-long Florida State Seminole fan to boot.  Will I like the Heat because he went to Miami? Absolutely no way in hell.  Not even a snowball's poor chance in hell.  I'm an avid Orlando Magic fan.  Now, wanting to see them crush the Miami Heat will be more enjoyable.  Rooting against the new evil empire of the NBA will be fun.  Rooting on Orlando to beat their ass next season en route to the NBA title will be even better.
