Florida Legislature denies rightful citizens of their constitutional rights
So much for all those Republicans really caring about the second amendment. The Florida Legislature, mainly Republican controlled, voted to keep the ban on weapons on college campuses. This is a direct violation of the federal right of the second amendment of the Constitution. This disgusting and sickening act is a goddamn outrage. How dare they tell law abiding college students that they are not allowed to carry weapons on campuses in the state of Florida. Usually I criticize Democrats and Liberals for gun control, but when Republicans are running things and they allow this to happen, they're going to catch hell.
The biggest problem I have with this ban is that is a violation of your fundamental rights. As long as you are not using weapons in a law-breaking manner, you should be allowed to have them on you, and that includes the college classrooms and campus. I knew once the passionate testimony of the Cowie tragedy at Florida State University hit the legislators, the emotions would overtake all common sense. Don't get me wrong, I think it sucks that the girl died the way she did. The kid who was playing with the gun should have used better judgment. However, it still doesn't mean that the rest of us should have to pay. Incidents like the one in Blacksburg, Virginia in 2007 and the Columbine shooting in 1999 could be prevented by law-abiding students who would have had a chance to shoot back to prevent more massacre. Guns don't kill people, idiots who use them in the wrong manner kill people. It's the same damn tired old argument I'm sick of having to repeat until I'm blue in the face.
Do we take away all beer from everyone the next time some moron kills someone while drinking and driving? Do we take away all airplanes the next time some one dies in a airplane crash? Do we just remove all cars off the road if someone gets killed crossing the street? No. You'll never see a call to remove all of the examples I listed above. But you will damn sure hear it about guns. No wonder why the National Rifle Association works as hard as they do to protect second amendment rights.
Florida must become an open carry state without delay. Florida must allow students on college campuses to carry weapons. By banning these, they are blatantly denying you and I our basic fundamental rights. If you are a student at any of the major college campuses in the state of Florida, you must demand that they stop railroading your rights.
Sorry, Republicans, but you dropped the ball on this one big time!
