Why the Legal Drinking Age Should be 18

OK, I know I am going to catch hell from MADD for this, but this is a topic that needs to be addressed.

How is it that you can face all the legal consequences as an adult in this country at 18, yet they say you are not mature enough to be considered an adult in regards to drinking until you are 21?

How is it that you can be drafted into the military and enrolled to shoulder a gun for your country and maybe pay the ultimate price at 18, yet you can't even take a sip of alcohol until you're 21?

The law is so hypocritical, it's not even funny. I would have no problem with the legal drinking age being 21 if they move the bar for being held legally liable for decisions as an adult to 21 instead of 18 and move the minimum age to fight for our country up to 21.  Personally, I think most people today might as well be given the legal right to drink at 18.  It would drive up huge tax revenues for both state and federal governments from the establishments that would have to pay taxes on revenues to alcohol being consumed by those who are already doing it without having to pay legally.  Yes, kids that are 18, 19, and 20 are still downing those alcoholic beverages.  Nothing you can do parents, they're going to do it whether you like it or not.  Prohibition was a complete and total failure, and the government already has once before had to remove the egg of it's face.  Time to do it one more time.
