CP7 For Heisman

Yes, Florida State University Athletics Department got this right.  Christian Ponder For Heisman in 2010.  After a freak injury cut down a gaudy 2009 offensive fireworks show for Christian Ponder, 2010 brings a chance to finish what he started.  Last year, with Florida State playing not a damn lick of defense, he guided the offense to some of the most potent scoring in years.  We didn't win as many games as we should have last year. But that is not the fault of Christian Ponder.  He put up the numbers.  This year, though, the defense should be better.  Mickey Andrews retired last year, and now Mark Stoops has come to town.  He brings with him a much more modern defensive scheme that should improve the wins in Tallahassee.

The offense, well, they should be loaded in 2010.  The offensive line is solid.  The running game is going to be stacked this year.  The wideouts and playmakers are a year older and more seasoned.  Ponder is going to have an arsenal at his disposal this year.  A Texan and a natural leader, he has all the tools to become yet another Seminole great to sport the Heisman pose.  However, big time players are made in big time games.

Florida State travels to both Oklahoma and Miami this year.  They have Brigham Young and Florida at home.  Throw in some tough ACC games, and FSU certainly has a chance to win some hardware this season, both team wise and for individual players.  On September 11th, Ponder has a chance to be a huge early favorite for the Heisman.  A win at Oklahoma would be huge.  A loss would suck, but won't be devastating.  There will be some catching up to do, but a win is monumental.  Games against Miami and Florida will tell the tale.  Oh well, this season is wide open.  Hopefully Ponder is yet another Seminole great to strike the pose when the dust settles this December.
