Canada's Agony has my empathy
Yes, call me a bleeding heart on this one. I feel for the Canadians. Eighteen straight years without the Stanley Cup. For them, it feels like an eternity. I can certainly understand. Afterall, I'm a Florida State fan in football and basketball. Especially in basketball, where Florida State has never won a national championship. They played for the title in 1972, and lost. They came painstakingly close to the Final Four in 1993. One game away, only to be wiped out by Kentucky. This year, they should have been in the Final Four. One bullshit upset loss to a sorry ass VCU team cost them a birth in the Final Four in Houston. Florida State football is still now twelve years removed from a national title. Oh yeah, and the baseball team. Twenty trips in thirty two years to the College World Series, and you guessed it - no national championships.
Meanwhile, the two rival assholes to the south have racked up so many national championships over the last three decades it's enough to make you want to puke. Not to mention the Florida Gators have a great shot to win a baseball championship before FSU. Despite our great success, they are in prime position to finally get the triple crown of college sports. I won't even touch about Miami's success. Good program, but their fans are worthless shit-eating, bottom feeders. Not even Gator fans are as bad, ouch. At least Florida State has two football national championships. Should have been five or six, but two is still damn sure better than zero. Reference FSU basketball and baseball.
Can't hate on those in Vancouver for the riots, still stupid to burn your own damn city. But, I do understand your frustration. Hockey is and always will be Canada's game. I can't remember a drought this long in my lifetime for the Cup not being in Canada. Oh well, there is always next year. Trust me, I've been saying this so damn long now that it pretty much wrings hollow. 2012 brings about a new chance for all teams. God willing, maybe you'll get your Cup back and Florida State's baseball and basketball teams will finally win a title. Give me basketball if we can only win one. I've been craving one for so long it seems like it has been an eternity.
